Ferries, was voted ‘Best Passenger Line of the Year’ in Lloyd’s List Greek
Shipping Awards. Pericles Panagopulos, Chairman, and Alexander Panagopulos, CEO
of the Group, were presented with the award in a special ceremony which took
place in Athens, last night. An independent judging panel representing a broad
cross-section of the Greek shipping community and impartial experts in the
industry awarded Attica the ‘Best Passenger Line of the Year’ award, in the
Lloyds List Greek Shipping Awards which are intended to honour achievement in
the Greek shipping community.
Attica Group owns and operates a fleet of fifteen passenger ferries and one passenger-only catamaran. It operates four Superfast ferries and one Blue Star ferry in the Greece – Italy routes, two Superfast ferries between Germany and Finland, two Superfast ferries between Scotland and Belgium and seven Blue Star ferries in the Greek Islands.
Superfast Ferries was recently voted “Best Ferry Operator” by the Scottish Passenger Agents’ Association (SPAA), the oldest travel trade association in the world, with 700 travel agents in Scotland voting for the award. Superfast IX and Superfast X, which operate between Scotland and Belgium were voted as “Best ferries overall” and “Best in the categories of cabins, bars and lounges” in the North Sea by “Holiday Which?” magazine, the publication of the British Consumers’ Association, the largest consumer association in Europe with over 700,000 members.
Attica Group posted a net profit of Euro 35.2 mln in the nine months ending 30th September, 2004, an increase of 15% over the previous year.
